Form the Past.......

Kotapola Maha Vidyalaya which is located in a scenic land facing to the Galle Deniyaya Road from the east Nagaketa Stream which flows to the Nilwala River from the South in the middle of the tea estate and facing to the Urubokka junction was started in 1877 under the leadership of the Principal Noris Vije Wardana.

However it is difficult to find information till 01st june 1914. At the beginning this school has been named as the" State Boys school of Kotapola" (Log Note 27.11.1917)

At the begining htere were less than fifty students in this school which started with a staff of two teachers, when it was 1933 the number of the teachers of the staff increased to four and the teaching of English Language also begun.

Since the 1st May 1962 this school has been promoted to a Maha Vidyalaya. The Principal Mr. M. Gamini Piyapala who appointed to the school on 05 th of September 1977 has served until the 26 th of March 1984.In that period a seneral sections which were necessary for the school could be got under former honerable minister Keerthi Abeywickrama.Thus the Homescience Lab the Library, Multifunctional unit and the Playground were received by the school.

At present ,A new cultural back ground has been formed in the school and the school premises also has been arranged properly.The school environment which is emurged the quality of environment friendly and human friendly is a result of the effort of the Present Principal, Mr.Gamini Wijenayaka.The favour and the support of parents regarding with the principal's effort is in a grand level.The voluntory services given by parents encourage us.The dedication of the old pupils is a great help to the progress of the school.
